Class Descriptions

  

Gentle: 

Easy stretching combined with breath helps release tension in the neck, shoulders, back and hips.  Standing poses to strengthen muscles that provide physical support in your daily life.  Gentle yoga is recommended for everyone.  If you have physical limitations, you are provided with modifications to make the poses safe and effective for you.  The class is valuable for practitioners of rigorous yoga, as it is a chance to slow down and to be nurtured.

Beginner:

Great for the student who has never tried yoga.  This class will cover the basics of yoga postures, breathing and meditation.  The student will learn the fundamentals of yoga practice in a very gentle and supportive environment.

Intermediate:

Perfect for the student to learn stronger yoga poses and develop breath awareness.

Going Deeper Into Yoga:

For continuing students to deepen their practice by exploring advanced postures and pranayama (breath techniques). Tools such as sound and chanting may be used.

Meditation:

Yoga postures to prepare the body for sitting, improve breathing patterns and cultivate internal awareness.  Meditation will calm the mind and give greater clarity.

Mindful Muscles:

Designed to build strong bones, core strength, balance, flexibility and mindful awareness.  The class consists of 30 minutes of yoga, 45 minutes of strength training and 15 minutes of easy yoga and relaxation.  This very popular class gives you a fantastic workout.

Pregnancy Yoga:

The practice of prenatal yoga will help you meet the challenges and transformations of pregnancy and birth with strength, confidence and calm. 

Pregnancy yoga incorporates gentle, safe movements and stretches to strengthen and open your body, breathing exercises to increase clam, focus and balance, and relaxation techniques to release deeply held tensions and to promote the well being of yourself and your baby.  Pregnancy is a time for moderation, so you are always encouraged to modify movements or to rest as necessary.

These yoga classes are specifically designed to support a more comfortable and healthy pregnancy and to prepare for labor with special practices of movement, breathing and meditative techniques.

Pregnancy Yoga +Mindful Muscles:

The best of two classes for the woman who wants to be strong and flexible. The benefits of this class include:  limited weight gain, less physical discomfort, more energy, easier, shorter, less complicated labor and quicker recovery.
